Trailer - {if your bait can sing the wild one will come} Like Shadows Through Leaves

Thank you everyone who has asked for a link and password to our film post the Oberhausen ISFF FIPRESCI award. We are happy to share it with you privately. It’s just as its meant to be an immersive, surround sound experience, we much prefer that you wait and see it live. We have however put together a little trailer that gives at least a sense of the atmosphere if not all the layers. SYNOPSIS This film is one part of a long-term engagement with Tanglin Halt, one of Singapore’s oldest social housing estates, which runs alongside a former railway track. The railway was owned by the Malaysian state until 2011, meaning that a ten-meter-wide zone of indeterminate-governance ran through the heart of Singapore for fifty years, playing host to a fecundity of more-than-human activities. Ornithologists have observed 105 species of birds in this patch. However, the land along the tracks is being repurposed as green corridor park through a new biotech and media hub. Once-famous modern housing blocks are being demolished and low-income residents relocated elsewhere. Unofficial tree shrines, community farms and gathering places have been cleared. Our repeated returns to this contested site aim to trace remaining fragments of calls, echoes, shadows memories and transformative encounters that still animate this zone, like shadows through leaves. FIPRESCI JURY STATEMENT "The film offers an artistic and investigative exploration resulting in a fascinating perceptive experience. While creating a cinematic atmosphere, it reflects on urban and eco-social transformations from human and more-than-human relationships. In this way, Like Shadows Through Leaves allows us to think of cinema as an aesthetic tool that questions, resists, and reimagines the relationships between culture and climate change.”

'Cause words can fool the heart And sometimes love is not enough To find our way out of the dark To a purpose Well we were who we were back then But we are who we are right now And as the waves come crashing down Over our heads Well we were who we were back then But we are who we are right now And as we tear our idols down To begin again Na na na na na Na na na na na na na Na na na na na na na Na na na Na na na na na Na na na na na na na Na na na na na na na Na na na Well we were who we were back then But we are who we are right now Director: Jayden Tan (HeadQuartors) Director of Photography: Soh Li Xia 1st Camera Assist: Joey Tay Gaffer: Khairul Hafizh Grip: Javen Leong Production Assistant: Charmaine Ow Stills & Behind-the-Scenes: Jason Ho Stylist: Liyana Norman, Zacchaeus Ng Hair: Xavier Ho, Blow+Bar Makeup: Melyssa Goh , Liyana Norman Cake: Inch Chua Supported by Camera Rental Centre Written by Paul McMurray, Andrew Chen & Jesse Bear Produced by Jesse Bear & Dru Chen Mixed by Ben Lam Mastered by Tony "Jack The Bear" Mantz Choir: Benjamin Kheng, Geoff Ong, Jesse Bear, Ebany Zhang, Melyssa Goh Additional percussion, sound design: Evanturetime © 2020 Dru Chen Music Pte Ltd.
